Xavier Rogé
Xavier Rogé was born in Tournai in 1979. He started by studying classical percussion at the local conservatory under Gérard Caucheteux. He discovered jazz at the age of 15, but only started playing two years later after finishing his studies at the conservatory. In 2002, he was awarded first prize in jazz drumming at Brussels Royal Conservatory, as well as an award for rhythm. In 2006, he got a degree in jazz drumming from the Brussels conservatory. In 2009, Ibrahim Maalouf offered him a place in his quintet which brought him to the four corners of the world. In the quintet, he had the opportunity to work together with Dave Douglas, Oxmo Puccino, Mathieu Chedid and Sylvain Luc.
In 2013, Xavier recorded the album “Illusion” with Ibrahim. It went on to receive a Victoire de la musique award in France, in the World Music section. In 2014, he created the batteurpro.com website dedicated to teaching drumming online.
