Gonzalo Rodriguez
Gonzalo Rodriguez was born in Seville (Spain). He started playing guitar at the age of 14 and a few years later, encouraged by the Belgian pianist Raphaël Debacker, he decided to study Jazz guitar at the Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel and had the opportunity to receive advice from Peter Hertmans, Fabien Degryse, John Ruocco…
He attends master classes with internationally renowned musicians such as Mark Turner, Jonathan Kreisberg and Sylvain Luc. He also devoted himself to classical guitar and Afro-Cuban music and at the same time he began to take an interest in composition during his conservatory years.
Currently he is leader/composer of the group Zola Quartet with whom he published a first album in 2014 (record of the week in Mad on 12/17/14). He also plays in projects like Sarah so far, Doble Impacto or Di(a)phonie, gives jazz guitar lessons at the Zottegem and Dilbeek academies and has had the opportunity to perform at festivals like Jazz à Liège or Jazz in ‘t Park in Ghent (with Zola quartet) or the Estival jazz in Lugano (with Ricardo Lemvo).
